The Human Spirit measured by reflections!

Peter Reffel, tutor for the third week’s training, had so much enthusiasm for photography that it was infectious, his suggestions about not worrying too much about the conventions of image composition or attempting to make sense of what we are shooting appealed to me, therefore when we went out I thought it would be interesting to snap through subjects……by reflection…..the window of a tailors shop and a pub.

Reflecting on all manner of images, music and reading has been and remains a key factor in assisting me to maintain a useful mental attitude. I find  plenty of scope in Leeds to nurture these interests..

Coming across the spectacular ‘Human spirit’ sculpture  outside the Nuffield was a bonus, it’s location down a side street with little through traffic seemed to emphasis the drama and dynamic energy of the four figures, it put me in mind of the determination and spiritual reserves humans draw on when facing challenges to their health and how vital the support of other people is.
